Haritha Keralam Mission Activities (Waste-Free Panchayat Initiatives)
Haritha Karma Sena Operations:
Collection of non-biodegradable waste from households and institutions, segregation of waste, and transportation to authorized processing centers. This has significantly contributed to making the Panchayat cleaner and waste-free.
Waste Management Facilities:
Establishment of facilities such as plastic baling machines, individual household bio-bins for organic waste management, centralized organic waste treatment units, and Thumboormuzhi Model waste processing systems.
Green Protocol Implementation:
Adoption of Green Protocol practices during public events and celebrations to reduce the use of plastics and minimize waste generation.
LIFE Mission Housing Projects
The Panchayat actively implements housing schemes under the LIFE Mission, aiming to provide safe, secure, and permanent housing for all. Assistance is provided for the construction of houses for land-owning beneficiaries, while landless families are supported in acquiring land and building homes.
Kudumbashree Mission Programmes
Financial Assistance for Women Entrepreneurs:
Support for micro-enterprises, production units, and self-employment initiatives that promote the economic empowerment of women.
People’s Hotels (Janakeeya Hotels):
Provision of nutritious meals at affordable rates, supporting the vision of a hunger-free Kerala.
Agricultural Groups:
Promotion of local farming through collective agricultural initiatives and community-based farming groups.
Effective Implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS)
Ensuring up to 100 days of guaranteed employment for unskilled rural workers. Major activities include:
- Construction and rejuvenation of ponds
- Cleaning and maintenance of canals and drainage systems
- Construction of concrete and tiled roads
- Agricultural support activities
- Construction of work sheds
- Laying of coir geotextiles for soil conservation
These initiatives contribute significantly to rural development and livelihood enhancement.
Safe Drinking Water Projects
Ensuring access to clean drinking water for all households through:
- Cleaning and rejuvenation of wells
- Implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission
- Implementation of KIIFB Drinking Water Projects
Various initiatives are also undertaken to protect and conserve local water resources.
Model Interventions in the Health Sector
Aardram Mission Activities:
Upgrading Primary Health Centres into Family Health Centres to provide improved curative and preventive healthcare services.
Disease Prevention and Control:
Implementation of mosquito control measures, sanitation drives, and public health campaigns to prevent the spread of communicable diseases.
Educational Development Initiatives
- Distribution of study materials and educational aids to students.
- Development of infrastructure in schools.
- Provision of laptops and other learning devices to students from Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and fisherfolk communities pursuing higher education.
Environmental Conservation Initiatives
- Cleaning and restoration of rivers, canals, and water bodies.
- Protection and conservation of natural resources through various environmental sustainability programmes.
